EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

THE effects of the credit crunch have been felt throughout the local housing market. As a result, the majority of residential brokerage firms have seen sales volume decline considerably.

Overall, the 25 largest brokerage firms reported an aggregate $33.8 billion in Los Angeles County sales volume for the 12-month period ended June 30, compared with $45 billion during the previous period.

Unit volume saw an even steeper decline. The 25 largest firms reported 29,175 units sold during the period, compared with about 40,000 the prior period.

Companies that service areas in Santa Clarita, Lancaster and Palmdale saw some of the largest drops in volume. Lancaster-based Re/Max All Pro reported $169 million in sales volume, down 49 percent. It reported 618 units sold, down from 1,053 the prior year.
