* EXECUTIVE SUMMARY THE Big Four accounting firms employ more than half of the 7,300 accounting professionals who work at the 50 largest firms in Los Angeles County. Led by Deloitte, the Big Four held their respective positions. Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and KPMG LLP all saw declines in their number of accounting professionals. No. 2 Ernst & Young LLP reported an increase in the number of accounting professionals in its local office, although total employment, including other professionals such as consultants and attorneys, fell slightly. The majority of firms reported either no change or a decrease in number of accounting professionals compared with a year ago. In addition to Ernst & Young, two firms each reported adding 11 accounting professionals over the past year. Nigro Karlin Segal & Feldstein LLP and Miller Kaplan Arase & Co. LLP each reported increases, bringing their total number of accounting professionals to 159 and 138, respectively. Overall, the 50 largest accounting firms in the county reported more than 8,500 total employees working in area offices.
